After years in the shadow of neighbouring Provence and the Côte d'Azur, Languedoc-Roussillon has finally come into its own. Subsequently, property prices and tourism volumes have risen faster here than any other region of France. Property grew by over 7% in 2007, compared to around 3.3% for France as a whole. And a record 15 million visitors poured into the region last year - with increasing numbers of tourists from outside France and Europe.
